Glossary
The words ASODeck uses — the way you read them in the app.
The deck
- Deck
- The images for one store page: several panels in one style, in every size and language, ready to export. Also: Screenshot deck.
- Panel
- One finished image in the deck — headline, device with screenshot, background.
- Screenshot
- The image from your app, as it was captured or uploaded. ASODeck never changes it; “Original” shows it.
- Style
- How the whole deck looks: layout, type, colors. Switch it and your copy and images stay.
- Look
- A suggested style in a round of five. “More like this” turns the one you picked into a new round.
- Headline and subheadline
- The big line above the device and the small one below it. Use a subheadline only where the headline cannot carry it alone.
- Emphasis
- Making one word of the headline stand out — italic, bolder or in the accent color, depending on the style.
- Label
- A small line in capitals above the headline.
- Base language
- The language you write in. All others are versions of it; anything without its own version shows the base language.
- Variant
- A copy of a deck with one hypothesis for an A/B test, such as a different first headline.
Highlighting
- Herausheben
- A part of the screenshot lifts out of the device as a card with a shadow — the one line that matters. Also: Cutout, Card.
- Magnifier
- A round glass over a detail too small to lift out — a price, a checkmark.
- Focus
- Everything except one spot turns blurred and darker.
- Redact
- Blur or mosaic over anything personal. In the export nothing underneath can be read. Also: Pixelate.
- Annotations
- Arrows, numbers, outlines, labels and highlighter on the screenshot.
Device and background
- Frame
- The drawn device around the screenshot: iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, browser window.
- Bleed
- The device reaches past the edge of the panel, at the top or the bottom.
- Background
- What sits behind the device: a color, a gradient, a photo or — in videos — a video of its own.
- Bildwirkung
- How the background looks printed: newsprint, risograph, halftone, 1-bit, ribbed glass, cinema. Your app itself stays untouched.
- Grain
- Fine noise over the background, like film.
- Dither
- A gradient made of dots instead of color steps, like on old screens.
Capturing
- PathMac app
- The steps from launching the app to the screen of a panel. It stays with the image, so “Recapture all” can walk it again without you.
- Tap helperMac app
- The part of ASODeck that taps, swipes and types in the Simulator — for you in the window or for your agent.
- Recapture allMac app
- After an app update, recapture every panel in every language along its path.
- Capture dateMac app
- A launch argument that makes your app always show the same day — so sample data does not change overnight.
- Launch argumentsMac app
- Switches your app receives at launch, for sample data or to skip onboarding.
Videos
- App previewMac app
- The video at the top of your App Store page: portrait, 15 to 30 seconds.
- ClipMac app
- A short video for ads and your website, in 16:9, 1:1, 4:5 or 9:16.
- ScriptMac app
- The scenes of a video in order, with text, camera and effects.
- MomentMac app
- A point in a recording where something happens: a tap, a swipe, a screen change.
Around the deck
- Promo set
- Images for Instagram, Stories, X, your website and changelog in the style of a deck.
- Feature graphic
- The landscape image at the top of your Google Play page.
- Store copy
- Name, subtitle, promotional text, description, keywords — per language. They belong to the app, not to a deck.
- Version
- A saved state of a deck. Restoring creates a new version, nothing is lost.
- Guideline
- Something that should always hold for an app (“magnifier always on the price”). Your agent reads it before every change.
- Connector
- The connection between your agent (Claude, Codex, Cursor) and ASODeck. Also: MCP.
